Acceptance of Continuous Induction Hardening and Tempering Line

Yesterday (March 10, 2025), the South African customer team arrived at our factory for the final acceptance of the long bar Hardening and Tempering heat treatment production line they ordered. The equipment is designed for steel bars with a diameter of M8-M30. It uses a dual-channel induction power supply system (two independent power supplies for Hardening and Tempering) to achieve high-intensity heat treatment process to ensure that the material strength grade reaches the 12.9 standard. In order to improve the stability of the equipment, key components such as the rollers in the heating area and the safety cover are all equipped with a circulating water-cooling system to effectively reduce mechanical losses in high temperature environments.

Core control system and quality assurance


- Double quenching and double tempering at different powers: 120kw induction power supply is used for the first hardening heating, followed by 80kw induction power supply for the second hardening heating; after material (steel bars or rods) passing the quenching tank, another two-induction power supplier of 80kw perform tempering heating separately.

- Fully automated control: Equipped with Siemens PLC and 10-inch touch screen human-machine interface, it supports parameter presets, real-time monitoring of process curves and data traceability functions to reduce manual intervention errors.

- Precision temperature control technology: Equipped with two sets of high-precision infrared thermometers, multi-point dynamic monitoring of the heating area is carried out to ensure that the temperature fluctuation of the quenching and tempering process is ≤±5℃, ensuring batch consistency.

 

Acceptance test and customer feedback


- Real machine verification: Steel bars with diameters of M16, M20, and M30 (length 3 meters) were Hardened and Tempered on site, and third-party laboratory tests showed:

o Tensile strength: ≥1220MPa;

o Impact toughness: ≥45J;

o Surface hardness: HRC 39-44 (Full section uniformity error <1.5HRC).


- Customer evaluation: Customer representatives particularly recognized the performance of the equipment in terms of stability and energy efficiency in handling large-scale materials, signed an acceptance agreement on site, and planned to include the test data in its supplier quality assessment system.

 

After the acceptance, the technical teams of both parties conducted in-depth discussions on the technical requirements of the new order, focusing on the following:


1. Process scalability: Explore the compatibility modification plan for equipment with larger diameter (M40 level) materials;

2. Intelligent upgrade: Integrate AI algorithms to optimize energy consumption models, and realize autonomous learning and dynamic adjustment of heat treatment processes;

3. Localized services: Plan to set up a spare parts warehouse and technical training center in South Africa to shorten the after-sales response cycle. This cooperation not only consolidates the customer's trust in our technical strength, but also lays a benchmark case for the subsequent development of the African high-end heat treatment equipment market.
